Privacy Policy

The short version: Showtimey has no accounts, no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking. We don't sell data. Your location is used for one thing: finding cinemas and showtimes near you.

Who we are

Showtimey ("we") is an independent iOS app that shows you films and showtimes at cinemas near you. Contact: hello@showtimey.com.

Location

With your permission, Showtimey uses your device's precise location to:

  • Find cinemas around you and sort them by distance. Distance calculations and address lookups happen on your device using Apple Maps services.
  • Fetch local listings. Your coordinates are sent over HTTPS to our server so it can return the movies and showtimes for your area.

Your location is not linked to your identity (there are no user accounts), is not used for tracking or advertising, and is not compiled into any profile of you. Listings on our server are cached per city or area, never per person. You can withdraw location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, though finding nearby cinemas requires it.

Your saved preferences

Pinned cinemas and app settings are stored on your device and synced between your devices through your personal iCloud account (Apple's key-value storage). They stay inside your Apple ID's storage. We have no access to them. The Home Screen widget reads the same data locally on your device.

Movie & showtime data

Film and showtime listings come from third-party data providers (including International Showtimes) and movie-metadata sources, fetched through our own server. Your device never talks to those providers directly. Like virtually all web servers, ours briefly records standard technical request information (such as IP address) in transient operational logs used for reliability and abuse prevention, not for profiling.

Analytics, advertising & tracking

None. Showtimey contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, does not track you across other apps or websites, and declares no tracking in its Apple privacy manifest.

Children

Showtimey does not knowingly collect personal information from children; the app collects no personal information beyond what is described above for anyone.

Changes

If our practices change, we will update this policy at this address and adjust the effective date above.
